Light Sport Pilot Training program
After many years of instructing we have learned a few things about pilot training
First Learning to fly must be a positive experience, which really means it must be enjoyable, the people who are having fun and enjoying themselves are the ones who learn the quickest and retain the most of what they learned.
We believe learning to fly is an adventure that you will remember for the rest of your life and it is our goal to make sure the lessons you learn here will stick with you for the rest of your life.
Second, for flight training to be most efficient and effective you have to fly often. Traditionally people learning to fly went about it by flying once or twice a week or once every other week, this is very often frustrating and expensive. When you first begin learning to fly if you go too long between lessons you must spend a fair part of each lesson relearning what you were taught on your last flight. Throw in the usual distractions that are part of everyday life and many find their flight training taking much longer and costing much more than they had anticipated.
We have seen this frustration over and over again in our career as a instructors. The easiest way to overcome this and make your training much more efficient is to train full time, much as the airlines and military do. So we have designed a 12 day immersion training course for the Sport Pilot license.
Imagine taking a vacation to learn to fly.
We are located in Friday Harbor which is located on San Juan Island, part of the San Juan Archipelago and a popular vacation destination. Friday Harbor which is the largest town in San Juans has a variety of shops, restaurants, brew pubs, numerous outdoor activities, the whale museum and beautiful northwest scenery that make Washington State so unique. Theres lots to do like ride the ferries, wildlife and whale watching tours, bike tours, a theatre, movies or simply relaxing in our charming island town.
This is also a unique place for learning to fly, away from congested airspace and large airports so there is no delay in getting off the ground and out to the practice area. Lots of interesting island airports to visit in close proximity to Friday Harbor, and lots of beautiful scenery nearby. Only a short distance to the mountains so that your experience will not be limited to flatland flying only.
Course Description
Minimum training requirements for certification is 20 hours. But we budget 25 hours to make sure you are a safe and proficient pilot But you only pay for what you actually use.
